A stunning Work of Art by Queensland artist Chris Gavins showing off a Magnificent Queensland Boulder Opal with Bronze Eagles in flight. What more can I say but the pictures and it’s a piece of art. A heavy sculpture with good patina and good detail (more detail than other works by this artist). The piece is signed by Chris Gavins. His sculptures are expensive and sought after. Two Eagles on Opal represents one of Chris’ larger pieces, with his works selling in several galleries throughout Australia. Chris Gavins, sculpts in bronze, glass and stone in Queensland, and uses more than 20 different processes to produce his bronze pieces.

A superbly Fluorescent Pink Mangano Calcite Large specimen with rare well formed crystal formation. An absolute stunner for any collection with a great colour. This specimen is of astounding quality with RARE well formed CRYSTALS and is of Museum quality. Four of the pics are taken under Fluorescent Long Wave Lamp. This piece is a lovely pink in normal light and super fluorescent under long and short wave light. Also it shows prominent BIP or Brief Intense Phosphorescence, this is when the UV light is taken away you can see for a brief moment the fluoresced area where the light was.

EXCEPTIONAL ROGERLEY MINE FLUORITE
An Exceptional Rogerley Mine Fluorite Specimen. This specimen is museum quality Fluorite and a one-of-a-kind piece. It was found on 30 May 2013 directly behind “The Weardale Giant” the famous large plate found in the Penny’s Zone part of the mine. This beautiful green Fluorite comes from one mine in the world. Fluorite from this mine is world famous for its “daylight fluorescence”, or rare ability to fluoresce in daylight. It is also fluorescent under long and short wave UV light. An essential mineral for the serious collector and a personal favourite!.
The daylight fluorescence is particularly marked in overcast weather, but still noticeable in any conditions. Photos are taken both indoors and outside. We have added a pic of this specimen under long wave ultra violet light, which shows as bright blue. The daylight fluorescence is suspected to be caused by the inclusion of Rare Earth Elements (REE), minerals including phosphates (monazite and xenotime) and fluorocarbonates (mainly synchysite).

This is the best tool we have seen to help with Fossicking for Long Wave Fluorescent Minerals.
