IMPERIAL TOPAZ
A beautiful, rustic specimen of Imperial Topaz on a quartz and albite matrix. So named for its golden colouration. Topaz is a gemstone and is also in demand as a mineral specimen. This piece is very much how you would find it in the field, still in its ‘matrix’ or host rock. Mineral collectors often prefer stones in their natural habitat like this, removed from the rock the gem would normally be sold by its carat weight (one carat being 0.2g). Topaz is a hard stone at 8 on the Mohs Scale, beautiful, available in a range of colours and relatively rare, making it perfect for high-end jewellery.
