A beautiful Labradorite Palmstone. This stone has a grey, blue, green background with flashes of bright vivid colours showing when you move it around in your hand. This is a high quality Madagsacan polished rock, I have taken the photos inside our shop. One of our most popular stones, it would make a great gift or treat. It is used mainly in jewellery and ornaments and is unfortunately known for being unpronounceable for many people. Also known as Spectrolite.
5.6cm x 3.8cm x 2cm, 72g.
Labradorite is a fascinating mineral that can produce a colourful play of light across cleavage planes called labradorescence. The usually intense colors range from the typical blues and violets through greens, yellows and oranges. Some rare specimens display all these colors simultaneously. Labradorite is a member of the plagioclase family of minerals. It is named for its original location of Ford Harbour, Paul Island, near Nain, off the east coast of Labrador, Newfoundland.
