Carcharocles Megalodon have been extinct for around 3-15 million years.  The largest marine predator known to have lived on our planet. 

Carcharocles Megalodon roamed the world’s coasts for a very long time.  Evidence shows them being around as far back as 16 million years ago, and as recently as 2.6 million years ago.  And, yes: they did have very big teeth.  That’s what Megalodon means (enormous tooth).  The biggest so far found measures some 18cm.

Age:  15 Million Years, Miocene Period.

South Carolina, USA.

12.3cm x 8.6cm x 2.4cm, 188g.
4.84″ measured on the side of the tooth in the standard method.

Megalodon Teeth are measured along one side of the tooth (see photo).  Regarded as one of the largest and most powerful predators in history.  Fossil remains suggest that this giant shark reached a length of 18 meters.
