MOOKAITE ROUGH ROCK SPECIMEN

An outstanding MOOKAITE ROUGH ROCK SPECIMEN with striking two tone mauve and white colouring.  A solid rock with outstanding contrast.  My photos barely do it justice, it is rare to get a rock with these two colours and such sharp banding.  This Mookaite is perfect for lapidary work or carving, or simply to keep in its current form as a beautiful and noteworthy Australian stone.

This stunning stone is found in the Kennedy Ranges near Gascoyne Junction about 100 miles inland from the coastal town of Carnarvon in Western Australia. About 600 miles north of the capital Perth.  The name Mookaite is from the locality where the rock is dug, Mooka Creek.  The Aboriginal word mooka means running waters, in reference to the many fresh water springs that feed Mooka Creek.

Location:
Mooka Station, WA, Australia.

Dimensions:
10.5cm x 7.5cm x 4.5cm, 358g.
