Native copper has been mined for centuries is now all but depleted as an economically viable ore.  These finds are now valuable as mineral specimens and ornamental pieces.

Copper is very useful due to it high heat transfer properties, high electrical conductivity, ease to process like welding and being malleable. One of the very first metals humans crafted into tools, simply by finding green or blue rocks (copper ore) chucking it into a charcoal fire and waiting some hours. After a few ales and a sleep, they would wake up and find globules of copper in the ashes of the fire.  They would form knives and swords out of the new copper.

When Copper forms an oxide coating of Vermerdi or Patina, this form an electronic PN Junction a transistor.
