Fossilised Wood:
Petrified wood is a fossil. It forms when plant material is buried by sediment and protected from decay due to oxygen and organisms. Then, groundwater rich in dissolved solids flows through the sediment, replacing the original plant material with silica, calcite, pyrite, or another inorganic material such as opal. The result is a fossil of the original woody material that often exhibits preserved details of the bark, wood, and cellular structures. Petrified wood from Chinchilla is prized for it’s excellent quality and beauty.

SMALL AMMONITE PAIR

AMMONITE PAIR
An awesome Large Cleoniceras Ammonite Pair. Sliced and polished to perfectly display the amazing chambers inside. The pics show some well formed calcification, crystalised pockets and dendritic formation when the sun or a torch is shone through. There is a reasonable show of irredecnce on the outside faces, hmm pretty cool specimens of high quality. This is a natural prehistoric fossil specimen, they never cease to amaze me. An amazing artifact and a close example of the Fibonacci sequence. A super and ancient gift for the natural history enthusiast. These Cleoniceras Ammonites are from the middle of the Cretaceous period which was between 145.5 and 65.5 million years ago!

CHRYSOPRASE CHUNK SPECIMEN
Large Chrysoprase Chunk Specimen with great green colour. It is translucent showing the grain, colour banding and slightly porous. Great for carving or as a brightly apple coloured mineral specimen. Chrysoprase, chrysophrase or chrysoprasus is a gemstone variety of chalcedony a cryptocrystalline form of silica that contains small quantities of nickel. The best colour is apple green which imitates Imperial Jade from Asia, but varies from deep green, blue grey to lemon. The darker varieties are called prase.
