Purpurite forms a series with the mineral heterosite. Purpurite is the manganese rich end member and heterosite is the iron rich end member. This is a very rare mineral that would get much attention in the semi precious stone market due to its striking color, if it were not for this rarity.

Meteorite 53 For Sale at a bargain price. A gnarly Meteorite from Campo del Cielo, Argentina. Who doesn’t love meteorites? Amazing little chunks of metal from space. It is now known that humans were using these treasures well before the Iron Age. This is a Nickel Iron rough Octahedrite meteorite, classification IAB.
There is much information available from this particular meteorite fall. Many large specimens from this event grace museums around the world. This specimen is mounted on a small acrylic display pad for enhanced display. Included is a small neo magnet to show the magnetic properties of Iron.
