Another of the interesting forms of pyrite!  Orbicular Pyrite appears like little roses on a matrix of tiny cubic Calcite crystals.  A super addition to the collection at a very reasonable price!  Plus a good location specimen to add to the metals collection.  There is also what looks like Galena crystals on the other side.

Another of the interesting forms of pyrite!  Orbicular Pyrite appears like little roses on a matrix of tiny cubic Calcite crystals.  A super addition to the collection at a very reasonable price!  Plus a good location specimen to add to the metals collection.  There is also what looks like Galena crystals on the other side.  The mineral pyrite, or iron pyrite, also known as fool’s gold, is an iron sulfide which has the chemical formula FeS2. This mineral’s metallic luster and pale brass yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well-known nickname of fool’s gold.
