This is one great specimen of soft pink Rhodochrosite Galena, with quartz and other associated minerals. An unusual combination of two popular minerals. What an excellent addition to someone’s mineral or crystal collection this will make. Another lovely South American mineral specimen. A great gift or treat this Christmas!
Raura District, Lima Dept, Peru.

Rhodochrosite was named in 1813 by Johann Friedrich Ludwig Hausmann from the Greek words for rose and colouring, referring of course, to its colour.
Galena is the primary ore mineral of lead, and was mined for this purpose as early as 3000 BC.
