Rhodochrosite:  MnCO3.

Named in 1813 by Johann Friedrich Ludwig Hausmann from the Greek for rose, and colouring.  A member of the Calcite Group.  Commonly occurs as a primary gangue mineral in moderate to low temperature hydrothermal veins.  A beautiful mineral used for jewellery and collected as mineral specimens.
