Shungite is a very popular mineral for its many interesting uses, including water purification and its metaphysical properties. As you may notice when comparing the size with the weight of this mineral, it is very light. That is the carbon component at hand. It is also the carbon that lends itself to water purification. These specimens come with a pouch. What you see is what you get – the photos are the exact same as what you will receive.
Shungite is an intriguing material. The name of the stone comes from the village of Shunga not far from the Zazhoginskoy mine. Shungite has unique mineral properties. The solid possesses sorption, catalytic and antibacterial properties. It has been known of for centuries in Russia where people would bath in water from the area for its curative properties.
Shungite has been used in medical treatment since the early 18th century. Peter the Great set up Russia’s first spa in Karelia to make use of the water purifying properties of shungite, which he had himself experienced. He also instigated its use in providing purified water for the Russian army. The anti-bacterial properties of shungite have been confirmed by modern testing.

HIMALAYAN RUTILATED QUARTZ ALBITE
An amazing cluster of Himalayan Rutilated Quartz Albite from high in the Nepalese Himalayas. A great, rustic cluster with several perfect crystals with inclusions of minerals, rutile, chlorite and perhaps others. The matrix on this piece is feldspar and chlorite. There is a broken crystal on the cluster. An amazing example of Nepali quartz, we source our crystals direct from Nepali miners.

Lapis Lazuli Point. A lightly polished Point of Lapis Lazuli, the “Stone of Royalty”. Lapis lazuli has been mined in Afghanistan for over 5000 years and remains highly sought-after to this day. This point shows the characteristic beautiful deep blue, pyrite and calcite inclusions. It also shows great banding and you can see the individual minerals easily. VIVIANITE SPECIMEN
VIVIANITE SPECIMEN
A great hand sized Australian Vivianite Specimen. The piece is partially polished to show the rich deep blue hue. This is pretty rare stuff and is used more and more in jewellery. I imagine that will be the case with this piece. However many people do collect the specimens too and keep them intact. It is rare to get this particular blue in minerals and this is a popular stone among collectors, one that is not always available.

PSEUDOMORPH MALACHITE CUPRITE
PSEUDOMORPH MALACHITE CUPRITE
A rare Australian mineral specimen of Pseudomorph Malachite Cuprite. You can clearly see that the Malachite is not in one of its natural forms, but instead is more like cuprite or copper. A pseudomorph is when one mineral is chemically replaced by another mineral without changing the external form of the original mineral. In this case the Malachite has replaced the original Cuprite mineral. There is also Smithsonite on this specimen. A very collectible piece, both for that fact is a pseudomorph and also because it is a rare mineral from a great location. An excellent gift or treat for the mineral collector and a must for the Australian Collection. This oresome mineral specimen is mounted on perspex to go straight into your cabinet.
