RARE ROGERLEY FLUORITE
RARE ROGERLEY FLUORITE
A beautiful plate of rare Rogerley Fluorite. Deep forest green indoors, changing to a translucent bright blue green outside. This specimen is covered with sharp cubic crystals including several twins. An especially stunning piece, my photos don’t do it any justice. This Fluorite only comes from one mine in the world which is producing less material each year and recently ceased operations. It is daylight fluorescent which is rare and exotic in itself, along with being fluorescent under UV longwave light (the bright blue pic). RocknCrystals are well known for stocking this rare mineral, we have done so since we first started out as mineral dealers many moons ago. We have specimens from several pockets at the mine. Photos taken indoors, outdoors and indoor under longwave ultraviolet light. This Fluorite is an excellent investment and will be a treasured specimen in any collectors cabinet.

Bluebirds Pocket Zone #2, Rogerley Mine , County Durham, England.Dimensions:
14cm x 11.5cm x 4.5cm, 868g.ROGERLEY MINE FLUORITE
Fluorite from the Rogerley Mine is highly sought after for its daylight fluorescence and the top quality crystals it forms. This piece is no exception, showing a stunning emerald green colour indoors and turning electric blue when under UV light and some where in between in day light (as the sun naturally radiates UV light). The daylight fluorescence is particularly marked in overcast weather, but very noticeable in any conditions. Photos are taken both indoors, under Long Wave light.
The daylight fluorescence is suspected to be caused by the inclusion of Rare Earth Elements (REE), minerals including phosphates (monazite and xenotime) and fluorocarbonates (mainly synchysite).

BLUE AMBER VERY LARGE
BLUE AMBER VERY LARGE
A beautiful Blue Amber Very Large specimen. This is a truly amazing material, indoors it has a translucent golden red hue, outdoors it looks blue to purple, so some kind of fluorescence or natural colour change is taking place here. Under long wave UV light it fluoresces electric blue. Being Amber, or fossilised tree gum, it is extremely light for its size. The ethereal look and feel of this stuff make it a compelling addition to the collection. This piece would be suitable for cutting into a magical looking gem too. Bet you can’t put it down! A great gift or treat for the collector of the unusual.

PERSPEX DISPLAY PAD LARGE
PERSPEX DISPLAY PAD LARGE
Tidy up the collection with these handy Perspex Display Pad large 10 packs. They come individually wrapped and with little rubber feet for stability and a non slip base. You’ll see a few of these in our photos but we mainly used them in the shop as it is more difficult to send items once mounted. Use mineral tack or blue tack for temporary placement or hot glue for something more permanent. They will make your minerals look even better than ever and allow you to show their best angle for viewing. Sold in packs of 10.

MUSCOVITE MICA SPECIMEN
A large and rustic Muscovite Mica Specimen. Featuring many mica blades clustered together. This lovely silvery Mineral possesses special properties like electrical, thermal and electromagnetic insulation and shielding. We have personally measured these properties with a Trifield meter for shielding and Mica is one of the best natural radiation shields. It has been used scientifically for these purposes for well over a hundred years. This specimen is mounted on a perspex pad for enhanced display and to make some handling possible. Mica can be flaky and comes apart in thin sheets much like flexible plastic. It is a popular and unusual mineral that appeals to people of all ages. Muscovite is just one variety of Mica, named for the Russian province of Muscovy, known for its sheet mica. The associated white mineral is probably Albite.

WHITE AMMONITE FOSSIL
WHITE AMMONITE FOSSIL
A White Ammonite Fossil Specimen for the collection. An amazing artifact and a natural example of the Fibonacci sequence. From the center out, the spiral increases at the ratio of Phi or the golden section, 1.618.
The name Ammonite, from which the scientific term is derived, was inspired by the spiral shape of their fossilised shells. These resemble tightly coiled rams’ horns. Pliny the Elder (d. 79 AD near Pompeii) called fossils of these animals ammonis cornua (“horns of Ammon”) because the Egyptian god Ammon (Amun) was typically depicted wearing ram’s horns. Often the name of an ammonite genus ends in ceras, which is Greek for “horn”.

TERMINATED AEGIRINE CRYSTALS
TERMINATED AEGIRINE CRYSTALS
An excellent specimen of terminated Aegirine Crystals. Beautiful shiny black clustered crystals. They appear as a single large crystal but on closer inspection are several growing together. Many crystals are terminated and there is an amazing collection of crystals at one end. An unusual talking piece for the collection. It is rare to find this quality of Aegirine available. A great gift or treat!

CHRYSOPRASE ROUGH LEMON
CHRYSOPRASE ROUGH LEMON
Beautiful chunky Chrysoprase Rough Lemon Aussie stone. An amazing colour for a rough stone of some apple green merging into Lemon shades, once polished it will be quite striking. Usually reserved for jewellers, quality specimens like this are hard to come by and attract high prices. A great Aussie Gemstone. At 117g this is a good sized specimen and worthy for collection, but I think it will be made into jewellery. This material is called Lemon Chrysoprase and seldom seen available to buy.
Chrysoprase, chrysophrase or chrysoprasus is a gemstone variety of chalcedony (a cryptocrystalline form of silica) that contains small quantities of nickel. Its color is normally apple-green, but varies to deep green. The darker varieties of chrysoprase are also referred to as prase.
This material was fossicked many years ago, the location is now closed for fossicking.

MAGNIFIER 10X LED
A great Magnifier 10X LED to inspect your crystals close up. This is my best pick as it is very easy to use and weighs almost nothing in shirt pocket or handbag. The LED light is perfectly positioned and adjustable. You can easily remove the LED light and use when you might need it in the middle of the night. A great little gift of an educating tool. The sample pic shows Hemimorphite.
