RED RUBY SPECIMEN 3
This crystal is a beautiful natural Red Ruby Specimen 3 in white matrix. Great deep colour and an excellent specimen with natural crystal formation from this location. Under magnification with a 10x there are many interesting inclusions on the matrix including metals like Pyrite. One of the pics taken under long wave UVA light showing extreme fluorescence. Just one of the interesting features of this mineral.

Ruby’s are Red and all other Corundum are Sapphires. The name is from Sanskrit “kuruvinda” meaning Ruby. A rare sapphire is a Padparadscha which is a pinky peach colour, found in Sri Lanka. Ruby is the second hardest natural mineral. The Element Chromium is what causes the Red colour in Ruby. The best shade of red for a Ruby is Pigeon Blood Red. Ruby can be any shade of red up to almost pink. They are the most amazing Gemstone and in my mind way better than Blood Diamonds.

PYRITE SUN LARGE
A broken Pyrite Sun Large. This is a natural formation of Pyrite and something quite different to the usual more cubic looking varieties. Striations radiate out from the centre. Our Suns are hand selected at the source for their excellent quality. We are well known for our metals range and have pyrite specimens showing cubic, orbicular and octahedral crystals, as well as these suns. Pyrite (“fools gold”) is popular with all age groups. A great piece for the collector of unusual pieces. This Pyrite Sun comes with a perspex stand for display and looks even better in person. Unfortunately this one was broken in the post but it is very large and would still be good as a display specimen for the collection. Could be used for making jewellery.
