RED RUBY SPECIMEN 10
This crystal is a beautiful natural Red Ruby Specimen 10 in white matrix. Great deep colour and an excellent specimen with natural crystal formation from this location. Under magnification with a 10x there are many interesting inclusions on the matrix including metals like Pyrite. One of the pics taken under long wave UVA light showing extreme fluorescence. Just one of the interesting features of this mineral.
Location:
Hunza Valley, Pakistan.Dimensions:
6.5cm x 6.24.1cm x cm, 180g.
Main Crystal: 9mm long.Ruby Corundum: Al2O3.
Ruby’s are Red and all other Corundum are Sapphires. The name is from Sanskrit “kuruvinda” meaning Ruby. A rare sapphire is a Padparadscha which is a pinky peach colour, found in Sri Lanka. Ruby is the second hardest natural mineral. The Element Chromium is what causes the Red colour in Ruby. The best shade of red for a Ruby is Pigeon Blood Red. Ruby can be any shade of red up to almost pink. They are the most amazing Gemstone and in my mind way better than Blood Diamonds.

PURPLE FLUORITE CRYSTALS
A great rustic cluster of lovely deep Purple Fluorite Crystals. Strikingly coloured and quite different to many of the other fluorite specimens collectors tend to have. Purple contrasted on a white matrix makes for a great collection piece.

Calcium Fluoride.Fluorite is from the Latin noun meaning a stream or to flow. Fluorite is used as a flux when smelting metals to help the slag rise to the top and give better fluidity to the molten metal. Fluorescence is a word derived from Fluorite as Fluorite was the first mineral to be observed Fluorescing.
